All you want from a restaurant is good food and great service, it also helps if the atmosphere is nice as well! Out East has it all! I came here pretty early, so we didn't have to wait long. Plus, we made a reservation. They were helpful and accommodating. We appreciated our time there and the food was good as well. I got the eggs Benedict, without the meat, it was great. They also gave us complimentary banana bread before our meal. The servers were attentive and very sweet. I would definitely go back again.

Out East, chic Long Island coastal inspired restaurant situated in East Village of New York City, brings the beach house vibe and fresh seafood taste to you. Upon entering and being seated at their pink banquette, you instantly feel as if you've been transported out east of the city for the night. No matter where you are seated, every corner is its own little unique niche, yet each spot doesn't lose itself from the rest of the spaces and the overall design of the restaurant. The use of vintage style wallpaper and bright colors, definitely add that little pop to the space. But what brings light to the place, literally, is the massive skylight. You will feel as if you are sitting outdoors, with the sunlight shining through into the atrium formed and unwrapped by the stairs to their lower level. Whether you are there flooded with the last bits of daylight or covered with the dark night sky, you will find it extremely cozy and it will surely make your dining experience pleasurable and enjoyable. Starting off with some oysters, east or west, it will definitely give you a slight taste of the sea that Out East is set out to offer. Kusshi, west coast oysters from British Columbia, did just that. Despite their small shell and size, each slurp guarantees to occupy your palate with an ultra clean and fresh flavor. The spicy shrimp tempura is prepared with absolutely fresh shrimps, something you can determine right after biting through the crunchy exterior. The crunch does not overshadow its firmness and texture. The black sesame sprinkled atop, the amount of lime you decide to squeeze on, or the amount of aioli you plan to dip in, it will not cover the sweetness of the shrimps. The lobster mac n' cheese, served with large lobster bits scattered across a small pan, taste like the lobster has packed and brought the whole sea to you. The mac and cheese is for sure creamy and cheesy, however, the faint dash of lemon juice along with the fresh sweetness of the lobster balance every bite perfectly. This dish will also leave you wanting more after each spoon, even after your last spoonful! The halibut was paired with smoked manila clams, marble potatoes and a clam chowder coating on top, while the salmon was placed on top of rice with mushroom and decorated with a red wine reduction. The salmon was pan fried to perfection, giving the exterior skin a slight crunch, but leaving a soft and juicy interior texture. All the salmon oil seeps into every grain of the rice below so that each spoon of rice, accompanied by mushrooms, is soaked with flavors of delicious salmon. The dessert menu might be a bit far from being lengthy, but what they do offer definitely hit the spot. The S'mores Tartlets, torched marshmallow on tarts, and The Pearls of Out East, seashell shaped macarons, are both aesthetically pleasing and very tasty. There is an extensive list of wines, so there will certainly be an appropriate match for whatever dishes you order throughout your culinary experience. Their unique and refreshing cocktails are just as outstanding, like the Pink Pooch and Untitled in Green. The Pink Pooch is a bit tangy from the strong punch of the grapefruit that hits you right when you sip it but quickly follows by a very natural sweetness. The cucumber and mint in the Untitled in Green make the drink extremely refreshing, light and easy to sip on.

The space is huge for the area and has an incredible vibe. $1 oysters for happy hour are totally worthit, ours were bluepoints that came from Virginia and were huge and generous in portions. We've been told they source oysters from all over and looking forward to trying new spots. Whilst the restaurant bills itself for seafood expertise (and without doubt the salmon was fantastic), we would dare say that this place has one of the best burgers in the city (which we've been told was ported over/inspired by Joe's of UWS burgers as the establishments have same owners).

This place has been on my list for quite some time and I'm so happy I finally got around to trying it. Located on a quiet street, this East Village gem is the epitome of that trendy, classy, doesn't break the bank restaurant that you've been looking for. I made reservations for 7:15 on a Sunday and was seated by lovely and friendly hostess. The place was basically empty which didn't surprise me for this time and honestly made the experience even better. Walking toward our table, you can't help but notice the style and decor of this place which is chic AF to say the least. We were seated at the back corner table which is definitely the ideal seat for any date or special occasion. Greeted by our server, she informed us that in order to have a seamless dining experience that we order our appetizers and mains together. We ordered the tuna tartare, shrimp tempura, chicken, and the lamb chop. The tuna tartare was served on crackers and was extremely fresh and tasty. The shrimp tempura was not too light and not too heavy and the black sesame and spicy aioli complemented the dish very nicely. The chicken was served with carrots and mashed potatoes and was very juicy and filling. The lamp chop was juicy and cooked to perfection and served with a celery purée that was unlike anything I have ever tasted. We finished our mains extremely full but had to make room for dessert, carrot cake and ice cream which was the best way to complete the meal. Total coming out to around $113. Out East has become one of my favorite spots in the city for a nice meal. If your looking to wine n dine a S.O., host an intimate birthday dinner or even meet up for drinks, this new American restaurant will be your go to.

"Inspired by Long Island" is not a restaurant descriptor that I typically get excited about, given that the food from my only trip out east was mostly mediocre Italian food and delis. But if this is what Long Island tastes like, put me on the LIRR, please. I came with my boyfriend at 9 pm on a Thursday and it was still lively, but had no problem getting a table. The crowd was a mix of couples, groups of grown-up sorority girls, and families; pretty white and upper-middle class. Guests were dressed well but not formally. Volume was average, though I would imagine it gets loud at peak hours. This may be one of the most gorgeous new spaces in New York, from the lit-from-within sexy downstairs alcove to the elegant glassed-in and wallpapered gallery upstairs. It's a little of-the-moment with the dusty rose seating, but it's super romantic at night. I hope they start serving daytime meals as this must be pretty with all of the natural light from the greenhouse-style windows. For cocktails, we ordered the Sideroad Sumac and Untitled in Green (both $14). The former was a foamy sunrise-pink drink with egg white and tequila in a goblet; the latter was a spicy green tequila drink in a tall glass overflowing with ice. Both were delicious, though the latter gets a bit watered down by the ice. We had oysters ($3.50 each) and yellowtail tartare ($17) to start. We had both West Coast and East Coast oysters, and our server helpfully explained the difference taste-wise. The East Coast with just a little bit of their sauce... wow. Best oysters I've had in a while (and I went to Lure the week before and paid about the same price). The tartare was more standard but still very good, and the sauce was deceptively flavorful. For entrees, I had the duck breast ($28) and he had the striped bass ($26). These aren't cutting edge dishes, although the accompaniments go beyond the traditional (hen of the woods mushrooms and hazelnuts for mine, fennel and roasted pepper for his), but they do shine given the high quality of the products and the confidence they're cooked with. My duck was quite tender and cooked to a perfect medium; no problems with chewiness. His fish was buttery soft with a nice crisp skin. Enjoyed both tremendously and they mixed well with their sauces and sides. We had to turn down the dessert menu. I didn't have any complaints about the portions-- we came hungry and we left stuffed. Service was stellar and timing was appropriate. I will say that it's not cheap, but you do get what you pay for. Our bill ended up at $60 a person before tax and tip. That felt fair given how high-end the experience was. If you'd like to keep it cheaper, entrees are the best bang per buck. Save this for a nicer meal out when you would normally be heading to Midtown or West Village. I would consider this a $$$ place, not a $$$$ place, i.e. I would be comfortable bringing my parents here for a dinner without feeling like I was maxing out their generosity. So pleasantly surprised by this slice of the New York coast on the edge of East Village!

Beautiful restaurant! Tasty food here but served in very small portions. Their complimentary bread and whipped cream was amazing! The cream was so flavorful and fluffy. We had ordered the scallops topped with salmon roe which were so fresh, but we didn't expect the scallops to be so tiny. Other dishes we got were the mint pappardelle, fries and beet salad. The mint pappardelle was really good but I wished it was a larger dish. Fries was delicious too and super crisp. For dessert we had the milk tart, which basically complemented the ice cream on top so well! It all melted in my mouth. So good! Overall, I would recommend this restaurant but be prepared that the dishes won't be really filling...

Hello! Two words Montauk themed. You know this place will be a hit with all the people out there who love Montauk and come here just because it's themed that way, but be aware of the foodies. Why be aware? The food was amazing but small portions. While they do warn you, it's still not enough options to. It get the small portions. All around great food. The duck, porgy, pappardelle were amazing. Pappardelle was too small so maybe get it as an app to share since it isn't enough of a portion to satisfy yourself. Apps were great and normal size. Side of asparagus and mushrooms were extremely small. We got three of each of those for -2 people and still felt like we needed two or three more of each but too expensive. Don't bother ordering sides not worth it unless your order 4 of each. Desserts were abstract but good. Wouldn't necessarily recommend them. I would say just get froyo near by. Drinks were top notch! They all tasted great. Just over priced for the area. Expect to it $14 bucks. Waitress was amazing she was blonde and I wish I remembered her name! She was phenomenal and all staff was super polite.
